Family seeks justice three years after fatal hit-and-run outside hospital in Atlantis

ATLANTIS, Fla (CBS12) — Nearly three years have passed since 65-year-old Frank Padykula was killed in a hit-and-run crash outside HCA Florida JFK Medical Center in Atlantis. While time has moved forward, his family is still waiting for answers.

On July 9, 2022, Atlantis police say Frank was a passenger in a car leaving the hospital when it collided with a black 2022 Chevy Silverado along south Congress Avenue. The impact was fatal —Frank died at the scene. The driver of the Silverado never stopped.

Frank’s stepson, Jay Bingham, now lives in Denver. But his connection to the crash site and his stepfather’s memory remains painfully close.

“It’s created a huge void these past three years,” Bingham said. “I miss us three being together. I miss going to TooJay’s and having some lunch, or just going to the beach, or just sitting there watching a TV show together…
