Hinds Behavioral Health Services offers mobile HIV testing

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Friday marks National HIV Testing Day, and community groups in Jackson brought tests to those who need them.

Hinds Behavioral Health Services set up mobile HIV testing at Pittman Park. They also offered mental health support, meals and hygiene kits for those in need.

“We came to the park where a lot of our unhoused population live to provide testing for them. If they are negative, we try to get them on prep to get them started and help protect them. If they are positive, we still try to get them put on HIV medication to help them,” said Herman Peters, a navigator for Hinds Behavioral Health Services…
