ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — To make up for the lack of air conditioning during last week’s summer heat, Cottonwood Mall is offering free sweet treats. On Saturday and Sunday, they are having a “Paleta Pop-up Promotion.”

Last weekend, the mall had to close because of a broken air conditioner, but the issue has been resolved. News 13 interviewed shops last Saturday, who said they had to throw away product because of the heat. “We have to throw away a lot of our products, some of the place getting shut down, because, you know, it’s entering the danger zone,” said Potato Corner & Paleta Bar Owner Dipo Alam. “The moment that we take the fresh fruit, or anything like Agua Fresca, from 40 degrees inside the fridge, straight up to 90, 100 degrees inside the mall.”
