Keith Urban transforms Blossom into rock-country party

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio – Keith Urban has long had a reputation as a great live act, and Friday night at Blossom, the 57 year-old singer-songwriter-guitarist-talent-competition-judge-Mr.Nicole-Kidman lived up to that rep by giving the seemingly sold-out amphitheater a good old-fashioned country-pop Rock & Roll show.

Still touring behind his 12th studio album, “High,” released last year, Urban entered the stage behind a big curtain on to which his svelte silhouette, striking a classic guitar god pose, was projected before he ripped into “Straight Line,” the up-tempo country-flavored pop single from the album.

Looking like the coolest dad at your kid’s private school in his standard black see-through T-shirt, fashionably ripped black jeans and black sneakers, Urban and his energetic band reached back to his debut American album with the foot-stomping, electric banjo-laced “Where the Blacktop Ends” followed quickly by “Long Hot Summer” setting the musical tone for the evening…
