Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, partnered with the Office of Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment, has kicked off the summer with an announcement that should have dance enthusiasts pulling out their party shoes. According to a press release from the City of Boston, the city is bringing back the beloved Donna Summer Disco Party and introducing a new series of dance parties to City Hall Plaza. The disco party, now in its 11th year, is known for its festive decorations, including glow sticks and a disco ball, and the added twist this year: the return of roller skating to the plaza’s festivities.
Set for tomorrow, June 27, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Donna Summer Disco Party celebrates the local legend and disco icon with a variety of activities that are family-friendly and free to the public, featuring music from DJ Vince 1 and a special performance by O’Mega Red, “Our Donna Summer Disco Party is an annual event that honors this local legend by bringing together community members through music, dance and roller blading,” Mayor Wu told the City of Boston. This initiative aligns with Boston’s inclusive spirit, promising a vibrant atmosphere open to all city residents.
As the summer continues, three themed dance parties will keep the momentum going, with R&B Night set for July 25, Island Vibes Night on August 9, and Old School Night on August 22.
