The executive director of an Ocala nonprofit organization was arrested after a financial audit allegedly revealed that he had misused thousands of dollars and altered financial documents to mislead board members.
Earlier this month, the Ocala Police Department was informed by Open Arms Village (1839 NE 8th Road in Ocala) that the nonprofit organization’s executive director, identified as 40-year-old Dennis John Grundy II, had “misappropriated funds,” according to the arrest report.
Specifically, between 2023 and 2025, Grundy allegedly schemed to defraud the nonprofit organization by writing approximately 26 checks to himself, which were not authorized by the board of directors. According to the report, he then allegedly misled the board by “sending images of altered checks and statements to the [organization’s] bookkeeper.”…
