Honduran National Indicted in Orleans Parish for Illegal Firearm Possession Amidst Operation Take Back America

On June 26, 2025, Mainor Fuentes-Pineda, a 22-year-old native of Honduras, was indicted for illegally possessing a firearm, the Department of Justice reported. Found in Orleans Parish with a semi-automatic pistol on April 29, Fuentes-Pineda is now facing a serious charge under U.S. law specifically, Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(5).

A Glock Model 42, .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol was the instrument in question, a possession that could cost Fuentes-Pineda up to fifteen years in prison, if convicted, with the addition of a possible $250,000 fine, and at least three years of supervised release. There’s also the matter of a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. However, in a statement obtained by the Justice Department, Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson reminded the public that “an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”
