SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — More travelers are using the Sioux Falls Regional Airport than ever before, and as the numbers grow, so does the need for more space.
“For the last 2 to 3 years, we’ve gone through numerous design studies, analysis, future traffic demand, the number of flight operations, that type of thing to to really justify the need for additional gates,” said Dan Letelllier, executive director of the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.

The first phase of the project will add a concourse with four new gates, bringing the total to eleven. Traveler Travis Remme has seen the airport grow and agrees that the expansion is necessary.
“I fly a fair amount of times per year. And when I’m up there, it seems crowded and there’s not enough places to sit, and maybe more places for people that are here, you know, for business to do some work and stuff like that. So, I think if Sioux Falls wants to keep up with other cities that it’s a good idea,” said Travis Remme, a traveler from Rock Rapids…
