Pike Place Market vendor threatens to leave over extension of vehicle traffic ban

SEATTLE — About two months after Pike Place Market started a pilot program that limits most vehicle traffic, market leaders said the ban will extend into next year.

The pilot was launched in conjunction with a Seattle Public Utilities construction project, which is expected to wrap up by the end of July.

“We’re committed to getting a full year of learning. How can we learn through each season? How can we learn through all times of the day, all days of the week. We do have a real clear goal to be out of pilot before the FIFA World Cup.
