BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The California Transportation Commission (CTC) has allocated $3.5 billion in funding to enhance road resiliency, promote pedestrian and bicycle travel, and improve highway safety. This funding includes nearly $993 million from Senate Bill 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, and $944 million from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) of 2021.
Additionally, the CTC has awarded $1.45 billion for new projects that will receive SB1 funding through 2027. These projects focus on zero and low-emission transportation and infrastructure improvements to strengthen the state’s freight network and better connect marine ports with railyards and freight corridors.
