Beavercreek man charged after SWAT standoff reveals drugs and guns, police say

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — A Beavercreek man has been formally charged after police said he had drugs and guns, which were found during a search warrant.

According to Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, 40-year-old Shane Smith was indicted for the following charges:

  • One count of Aggravated Possession of Drugs
  • One count of Having Weapons While Under Disability (prior drug conviction)
  • One count of Having Weapons While Under Disability (prior offense of violence)

As previously covered, Kettering police were sent to execute a search warrant at Smith’s home, located on Mini Court on June 17, relating to reports of a missing person.

According to police, Smith refused to exit the house when officers tried to serve the search warrant, which turned into an hours-long SWAT standoff…
