Downtown Evansville sinkhole repairs to take 3-4 more months

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Many residents are wondering when the sinkhole in downtown Evansville will be repaired, and when Riverside Drive will reopen. The sinkhole shut the road down four months ago and officials with Evansville Water and Sewer Utility say it could take up to four months to reopen.

EWSU shared a video to the public — detailing the complex plan and the ongoing work on the Riverside Drive sinkhole, as well as the issues crews are dealing with.

“We don’t normally do major projects in real-time with the street closed, doing all the design as we’re doing the work,” said EWSU Executive Director Vic Kelson. “Our first priority is making sure that our workers and the public are safe as we execute this project.”…
