LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — It’s a disease with no cure and a diagnosis that changes everything.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting more than 6 million Americans. The average age of diagnosis is around 75, and physicians say that extreme summer heat can pose an even greater danger to this vulnerable group.
“Family members will usually bring patients to the clinic, saying that they’re struggling to do things that they’re usually pretty good at doing, like routine tasks,” said Dr. Fred Odago, a neurologist with CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group.
