Dog found dead in apartment, woman charged

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) A Lexington woman has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after one dog was found dead and another severely emaciated inside her home, according to Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control.

Officials say Jacara Reed is facing charges of torture of a dog and cruelty to animals after investigators discovered a dog believed to have starved to death, lying in its own waste in an emaciated condition. A second dog was found alive but in similarly severe condition, without access to food or water.

Authorities say the surviving dog was removed from the home and is now receiving care at the Lexington animal shelter…
