Officer allegedly looking to ‘reconnect’ with ex-girlfriend issued fake ticket

MIAMI, Fla. (WKRC) – A police officer allegedly attempted to “reconnect” with an ex-girlfriend by issuing a fake traffic citation, but was caught when his coworkers learned she was out of the country.

According to a release from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, the victim’s mother contacted her daughter, who was an active-duty member of the military, after she received a letter notifying her of a traffic citation her daughter received. The mother immediately assumed the ticket was mistakenly issued because her daughter was out of the country on the date it said she committed the infraction.

The family contacted the Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts, who confirmed that the citation was correctly and intentionally issued. The victim then contacted the City of Miami Police Department, who found another inconsistency – the officer who issued the ticket was on disability leave at the time of the ticket’s citation, per the release…
