Next Steps for Customers Eligible for City-Provided Trash Services

From the City of San Diego City News Team: Changes are coming to San Diego’s trash and recycling collection service, following the adoption of a new cost-recovery fee that will ensure the modernization and sustainability of the City’s waste collection program.

Under the new system, everyone who qualifies for City-provided collection services, including single-family homeowners, will pay for those services. A cost breakdown is available on the City’s website. Broken bins will be replaced at no additional charge, and customers can save money by opting for a smaller trash bin, effective once the new containers are rolled out, which will start in October.
