CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Heat, humidity, and storms remain in the forecast for the end of the weekend.

We remain warm and muggy overnight with partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 60s and low 70s.

Sunday is another hot and humid day as highs climb into the upper 80s and low 90s with dew points in the mid 70s. This pushes our heat index values into the middle and upper 90s once again, so make sure you’re staying hydrated and consider limiting your time outside during the hottest part of the day.

We are also monitoring the chance for showers and storms Sunday afternoon and evening. Scattered activity is expected to develop during the late afternoon, then continue into the evening and overnight hours as a cold front pushes through the state. During the afternoon and evening, some of these storms could become strong to severe. Primary threats include damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall with isolated hail being a secondary threat.
