Multiple varieties of lunch meat recalled nationwide

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Multiple types of lunch meat were recalled nationwide after authorities learned that they may contain an entirely different meat.

According to a recall announcement from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service, multiple types of bologna produced by Gaiser’s European Style Provisions Inc. were recalled because they “contain meat or poultry source materials that are not declared on the product labels.”

The affected products were:

  • Vacuum-packed packages of “FAMILY TREE BOLOGNA VEAL” containing undeclared pork.
  • Plastic-wrapped packages of “BABUSHKA’S RECIPE CHICKEN BOLOGNA” containing undeclared pork.
  • Plastic-wrapped packages of “FANCY BOLOGNA” labeled with pork as an ingredient but containing undeclared beef and chicken.
  • Vacuum-packed packages of “GAISERS RUSSIAN BRAND DOKTORSKAYA BOLOGNA” containing undeclared beef.
  • Plastic-wrapped packages of “GAISERS BOLOGNA VEAL” containing undeclared chicken and pork.
  • Plastic-wrapped packages of “GAISERS TURKEY BOLOGNA” containing undeclared chicken and pork.
  • Plastic-wrapped packages of “CHICKEN BOLOGNA KYPOYKA PABA” containing undeclared pork.

The FSIS said that although it did not expect any adverse health effects from consuming the products, those who have sensitivities to certain meats or religious restrictions should be aware of the possible inclusion…
