Mobile adult literacy classroom to launch in Cleveland this summer

CLEVELAND — Nearly one in five Ohio adults have low literacy, according to the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, and data shows that those who struggle with reading and writing skills face lower earnings, higher poverty rates and low self-esteem.

In Cleveland, two local artists Gwendolyn Garth and Wesley “Wallstreet Wes” Robinson are launching a mobile adult literacy and art classroom to boost those skills in the community.

“We are taking art and adult literacy to the streets, so look out for us,” Garth said. “We’re going to pull up in your neighborhood soon.”…
