Memphis-Shelby County Schools Offer Free Credit Monitoring After PowerSchool Data Breach

In what’s becoming an all-too-familiar narrative, the Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) district is grappling with the fallout from a significant data breach in December 2024. Memphis’s PowerSchool, a widely used educational software, has disclosed a breach that resulted in the theft of sensitive information about thousands of students and staff.

In a surprising twist, despite the lawsuit filed by MSCS against PowerSchool in response to the breach, the district has renewed its contract with the software provider.
