MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is in police custody after she allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Memphis non-profit.
On April 28, the interim executive director of a local non-profit filed a report with the Memphis Police Department.
He told officers that an internal audit allegedly showed that one of the non-profit’s employees, Roshaunda Burwell, had been paying her personal credit cards and MLGW bills with the non-profit’s First Horizon account without authorization between January 2022 and April 2025.
Burwell was in charge of the non-profit’s finances.

Investigators obtained records from American Express, Chase and MLGW, which showed that Burwell had used the non-profit’s bank account to pay $37,290.95 to American Express, $180,180.10 to Chase and $5,732 to MLGW (totaling $223,203.05)…
