ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. — Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) crews scrambled on Friday to make emergency repairs to a St. Pete Beach outfall in the Don CeSar neighborhood which has been causing an unusual amount of tidal flooding in the streets this past week, according to resiliency committee leader Kathy Garchow.
“This started happening on Sunday,” she said. “We’ve got the entire block here basically shut down.”
St. Pete Beach Public Services Director Camden Mills said the city suspects debris blockage has caused an FDOT tide check valve to malfunction. FDOT has a storm pipe, which drains Gulf Boulevard into the Intracoastal at the seawall located at 36th Avenue and East Maritana Drive…
