A hiker in the mountains above Santa Barbara who was suffering from a heat-related illness was airlifted to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Firefighters, Search & Rescue Team members and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 2:15 p.m. to assist the 26-year-old man on the Cathedral Peak Trail, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
The patient — who was suffering from moderate dehydration — was treated at the scene by firefighter paramedics before being hoisted into the county’s Copter 3 and flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Safechuck said…
