Letter: Voting in local elections is one of your most important civic duties

I am always stumped when it comes to voter turnout.

What does it take to get someone to vote? Traditionally, candidates will print flyers, put up roadway signs, make phone calls or send text messages out to thousands of potential voters to ask for their vote. And still voter turnouts are abysmally low.

Now here’s an idea that might work: When the Palmetto Electric Cooperative holds an election for their Board of Directors, they send postcards to their customers/voters telling them where and when to vote. But that’s not enough…
