WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A sinkhole in Northwest D.C. is causing emergency road closures.
DC Water said the P Street ramp to Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway was closed because the sinkhole could compromise the roadway.

The road closure will begin between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday and will remain closed until further notice. This is necessary for crews to asses the void and how close it is to a major sewer line.
DC Water said the sinkhole is along the shoulder of the ramp and is two feet long and wide, but the void under the road may be larger. The ground is compromised, “particularly under the weight of traffic.”
