A prominent financial adviser in The Villages has gotten a light sentence after being accused of naughty behavior at a Brownwood restaurant.
Arthur Eugene “Skip” West, 74, founder and CEO of the West Financial Group, pleaded no contest earlier this month in Sumter County Court to a charge of battery. He has been placed on probation for six months. A charge of false imprisonment was dropped in exchange for his plea.
The incident which led to West’s arrest occurred in November 2022 at the Wolfgang Puck restaurant at the Brownwood Hotel & Spa. It was after hours and West, founder and CEO of the West Financial Group, was still at the restaurant, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He was “too intoxicated to put his own shoes on,” and a waitress who was familiar with him attempted to provide assistance after he had fallen. He was helped to his feet and the waitress was walking him to the men’s room where he could clean up.
