What I’m Working On: June 30th, 2025

I didn’t get to sew much this week…I had doctor appointments on two of the days in Iowa City, and that is a 2 1/2 hour drive one way. That sucked up a lot of time I might otherwise have to get some things done around the house or sew. I told myself it was okay to not get up early this week and to try to get my hip feeling better too.

Luckily, I had some help, so I did accomplish a few things…mostly thanks to this girl…my daughter Kelli.

and these two, Georgia and Gannon.

Kelli cut out all of the pieces for the hourglass blocks for my Pfeffernuse quilt.

Gannon and Georgia helped me pull all the papers and I got the string blocks trimmed, depapered, and but into triangles.

My hip was hurting a lot on this day so I did a lot of sitting and pulling papers, which Kelli didn’t mind at all. She loves cutting out quilts, me, not so much.

I told Kelli that I’d really like to finish two quilts and donate them to the Winneshiek County Celebration of Life. They are a support group for people who have cancer. They give out gift cards for groceries and gas to people who have cancer who need an extra boost. They have been kind to me in the past. My doctor is on the board and I would love to come to an appointment and have a couple of quilts to give her for either patients or fundraising… whatever she thinks is the best use of them…
