A 27-year-old woman, whose suicide attempt at the Bexar County jail was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy on Monday, has died from complications caused by the hanging.
On Monday afternoon, a deputy conducting routine checks on inmates saw and intervened with Adriana Lastra’s attempt to kill herself. She was later taken to University Hospital, where she died Thursday night from complications of asphyxia by hanging, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner.
