Bexar County Jail inmate removed from life support following suicide attempt

SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has released more information surrounding the death of a female jail inmate whose suicide attempt was intercepted by a sheriff’s deputy just last week.

According to a BCSO statement, Adriana Lastra, 27, was booked into the Bexar County Jail on April 1 on a charge of Assault on a Peace Officer.

The sheriff’s office says on June 23, a sheriff’s deputy was conducting a routine check in the Jail Annex 11 minutes ahead of schedule when they discovered Lastra attempting to take her own life. The deputy immediately intervened, using a cutting tool designed for suicide attempts and began life-saving measures…
