TULSA, Okla. — Business owners in Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District said it is safe to visit, shop, and tour Black Wall Street after a shooting during Juneteenth that left one man dead.
“It’s disheartenin g to hear people say they don’t feel safe to come downtown,” said Rodney Tisdale, owner of Tisdale’s Cigar Lounge located at 10 North Greenwood Avenue, Suite A.
On Tuesday, July 1 at 6 p.m., Tulsa City leaders, the Greenwood Chamber, and Deep Greenwood will meet to discuss concerns of stakeholders regarding safety and security for future events.
“Greenwood’s not unsafe just because of this one incident,” said Kode Ransom, a tour guide and historian on Black Wall Street and owner of Greenwood Griots.
