How safe is your hospital? New report reveals surprising grades for Cleveland medical centers

CLEVELAND, Ohio — While the Cleveland Clinic dominated the recently released Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades with five A-rated facilities, its flagship campus, along with University Hospitals main campus and the MetroHealth System, received lower ratings.

Clinic Avon, Fairview, Marymount, South Pointe and Hillcrest earned A grades in the spring report issued by the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that works to improve quality and safety in health care. The organization assigns letter grades in spring and fall to nearly 3,000 U.S. hospitals based on how safe they are for patients.
