Africanized honeybees detected in Alabama, state officials say

BARBOUR COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries has confirmed the presence of Africanized honeybees in Alabama.

ADAI said the bees were identified in Barbour County after the collection of a “feral swarm” by local beekeepers.

“The swarm has been humanely euthanized to protect Alabama’s honeybee populations,” ADAI said in a press release Monday…
