Minneapolis urges residents: Don’t call 911 for fireworks complaints

Love them or hate them, fireworks are a booming part of Fourth of July celebrations and a time-honored tradition for many families. But if you find yourself in the “hate them” camp, don’t call 911 to complain about the noise.

That’s the message from the city of Minneapolis, which issued a reminder to residents ahead of Fourth of July festivities. They are asking people to help keep their 911 call lines open for real emergencies, like medical needs, crime and fires.

Those who wish to make a noise or general fireworks complaint can call 311, make a complaint online, or text “fireworks” to 311898.
