AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Rain chances increase for the first half of the work week, as a new low-pressure system forms to our west and drags a cool front into the area Tuesday and Wednesday.
As a result, showers and a few thunderstorms are likely through Wednesday. The good news is that the threat of severe thunderstorms this week is minimal, with a marginal risk for Tuesday.
Drier conditions return Thursday through Saturday, but this also means a return of near to slightly warmer than average temperatures for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
For the Fourth (Friday), expect a hot afternoon with mostly sunny skies, with only a slight chance of a brief afternoon downpour. Highs will be a couple of degrees warmer than average in the mid-90s.
There is a 20% chance of Tropical development along the east coast. This will bring added moisture to our area over the next week…
