HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Evansville man has filed charges at the National Labor Relations Board against the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 16 union after he says the organization fined him $1.29 million.
According to a release, Brian Head resigned his union membership on March 27. Head says he received acknowledgment from IBEW officials in an April 3 letter, but the letter claimed it was a six-month process before the resignation would be effective. On June 9, Head says he received a letter from IBEW Local 16 saying he was found guilty of violating the union’s constitution, and they would be imposing a $1.29 million fine as a penalty.
National Right to Work Foundation President Mark Mix claims the penalty shows the real priority of the union for controlling electricians rather than standing up for workers’ rights or freedom. Eyewitness News has reached out to representatives from IBEW Local 16, but have been told they have no comment at this time…
