Most every angler who is passionate about walleye fishing knows that Lake Erie is the capital of the walleye angling world. Fish are caught year-round on the Great Lake – east to west, north to south, and thousands of anglers and vacation-fishing families are getting in on its hot summer walleye action.
The lake holds millions of fish and sees record spawns almost annually. Limit catches of summer “eyes” are common, and big fish over 8 and even 10 pounds are caught every year.
The lake has superb access, lots of guides, and outstanding accommodations for everyone, from family fishers to hardcore anglers. But it wasn’t always that way.
