‘This death was very preventable’: Pam Rock Act to go into effect

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Starting July 1, those who own dogs who are deemed ‘dangerous’ will now be required to obtain $100,000 in liability insurance.

“Unfortunately, dangerous dogs have really caused havoc in all communities across Florida,” Julie Johnson, the director of Alachua County Animal Services, shared. “And in particular, that case was completely heartbreaking and preventable.”

The legislation comes after the death of 61-year-old Pam Rock, who lost her life to a vicious dog attack while delivering mail in the Interlachen Estates area in 2022…
