NEWMAN — A man on supervised release was arrested Friday night after he allegedly attempted to discard a loaded firearm and a machete in Pioneer Park, according to the Newman Police Department.
At approximately 9:57 p.m. June 20, Officer Pasillas was patrolling the park when he made contact with 41-year-old Enrique Mendoza, who was known to be on Post Release Community Supervision. During the encounter, Mendoza was found to be in possession of a live round of ammunition, police said.
Surveillance footage later revealed that as Officer Pasillas approached, Mendoza removed a loaded, unserialized firearm and a machete from his pants and tried to discard them in different areas of the park…
