Warning sirens in Greene County damaged by storm winds

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Greene County Office of Emergency Management is advising residents that many outdoor warning sirens are currently damaged due to the storm-related winds on Sunday.

Crews are currently working to assess and fully repair all the damaged sirens as soon as possible, but some of those sirens may remain offline until all sirens are operated on.

With the possibility of severe weather on Monday, OEM says those repairing the sirens will not work if there are reports of lightning or high winds, for their safety.

With some outdoor sirens not working, OEM recommends other ways to get weather alerts and updates, such as the NOAA Weather Radio, Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), local media and reputable weather apps that provide push alerts…
