Middle school friends reunite for first-time Hoopfest trip, complete with unique jerseys

SPOKANE, Wash. – Some of the craziest things to see at Hoopfest, minus the massive crowds, are the litany of unique jerseys sprinkled among the masses, from hand-taped letters to nicknames on the back.

The “Game Likers” team from Seattle had leopard-print uniforms, designed to celebrate their first time playing organized basketball together in almost 20 years.

“The four of us, we all grew up together, me and my brother on the team, just some hometown homies,” hooper Gabe Moore said. “We’ve been playing forever, I always wanted to play in Hoopfest, but it never worked out. So, this year, we’re like we can either let our bodies fall apart and get old, or get back in the gym and get some competition. So, we’re glad we came out.”…
