‘I feel unsafe’: Phillipsburg officials, residents discuss uptick in violence

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. – It’s the last day of what’s been a violent June in Phillipsburg. And the morning started like some others have: with gunfire, adding to a series of violent incidents in June.

Since May, there have been two homicides, and several reports of stabbings and shootings. The town is seeing a 25% increase in violent crime.
