San Luis Reservoir, CA – A magnitude 3.6 earthquake shook parts of Central California late Monday night, with the epicenter located just west of Los Banos, inside the San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck at 6:37 p.m. PDT (01:37 UTC) at a shallow depth of 2.3 kilometers. Light shaking was reported across Merced County and portions of Santa Clara and San Benito counties. One “Did You Feel It?” report came from as far north as the Bay Area.
The epicenter was just south of Pacheco State Park and east of Santa Nella, an area near critical water infrastructure and popular with summer campers and hikers. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury, but residents near San Jose and Modesto may have felt a brief jolt…
