KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — More law enforcement agencies as well as state offices in Tennessee have joined the 287(g) program to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a few different ways.
The new East Tennessee agencies to join the program are the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Grainger County Sheriff’s Office and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. All three sheriff’s offices joined the 287(g) program during the month of June.

At the state level, the Tennessee Department of Correction joined the program on June 16, and the Tennessee Department of Homeland Security joined the program on May 13.
