Knoxville police see ‘dramatic’ decrease in violent crime so far this year

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville police released data Tuesday showing a “dramatic” decrease in violent crime so far this year, the department said.

According to KPD, murder, non-fatal shootings, robbery and carjackings are all down compared to the same time period in 2024.

KPD said murders are down 64%, non-fatal shootings are down 9%, robberies are down 25% and carjackings are down 25%. According to KPD data, there were 14 murders in the first half of 2024. So far this year, Knoxville has seen four murders…
