MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Several new laws take effect in Alabama on July 1, 2025. Some only affect small numbers of people, and others are far-reaching, generating a mix of praise and controversy. Here are some to know about:
This is the most controversial of the new laws taking effect. The law authorizes the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board to regulate all hemp products, including delta-8, delta-9, and delta-10, and bans the sale of smokable hemp products, including vapes. Lawsuits have already been filed in advance of the law taking effect.
