Local healthcare workers respond to potential Medicaid cuts

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Healthcare workers across the nation are standing united Monday, with some staging a brief 10-minute walkout to express their concern over proposed cuts to Medicaid in the Big Beautiful Bill.

While hospital staff at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters did not participate in a walkout, they do feel strongly about the issue, saying they might not be able to provide the same lifesaving care to their patients if this bill passes.

With 37 million children enrolled in Medicaid, cuts to the program would be disproportionately affect CHKD, since it primarily treats children, and more than 57% of their patients are covered by Medicaid…
