For more than 30 years, Austin-founded Z’Tejas has operated in and beyond Central Texas, serving up Southwestern Tex-Mex favorites like street tacos, enchiladas, chile rellenos and handcrafted cocktails. Now, the business is biding farewell to its patrons.
Z’Tejas officials confirmed in a message on their website the restaurant chain would close its remaining location in Kyle, after earlier closures this year of their site in Austin’s Avery Ranch neighborhood as well as outposts in the Phoenix area. After starting 2025 with four operating restaurants, the Kyle shuttering culminates an initial onset of changes for Z’Tejas that kickstarted in 2023, when the brand closed its inaugural location at West Sixth Street and North Lamar Boulevard following 33 years of operations.
“It’s time to say goodbye to this chapter,” the restaurant posted online. “With our lease coming to an end and the challenges of today’s market, we’ve made the difficult decision to close…our last remaining outpost.”…
