OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Here are the headlines we’re bringing to you first on Monday, June 30.
Over 2,000 Omaha Public Power District customers in southwest Omaha were impacted by a power outage late Sunday. A check at 7 p.m. Sunday showed about 2,055 customers in Douglas and Sarpy counties with outages. In an 8 p.m. update, OPPD said while crews were checking out the affected circuit, they initially saw no obvious damage. Later, they found the cause of the outage to be cable theft. A majority of power was restored by 10 p.m. Sunday.
Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon is expected to announce Monday that he will not seek re-election next year. He was first elected to Congress in 2016, and he has held the 2nd Congressional District seat for four election cycles. Bacon is scheduled for a news conference at 10 a.m. Monday.
