AUSTIN (KXAN) — The San Antonio Zoo has added a new member to its giraffe herd, according to a Monday press release from the San Antonio Zoological Society.
Kicheko, which means “laughter” in Swahili, was born April 1, 2024 at the Dallas Zoo, the release states. He recently joined his new herd-mates, Waffles and Brayden, at the San Antonio zoo’s Naylor Savanna habitat.
“Kicheko’s arrival marks the next chapter in our new giraffe breeding program plans,” said Tim Morrow, President & CEO of San Antonio Zoo. “He is a beautiful giraffe with very unique spots and is already enjoying his time with Brayden and Waffles exploring the Naylor Savanna.”
