TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The cities of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda are teaming up once again to present a massive Fourth of July celebration that promises to light up the Erie Canal and bring both communities together in patriotic spirit and historical recognition.
“Fireworks on the Erie Canal” will take place on Friday, July 4th on the Renaissance Bridge, the iconic structure connecting the two Cities. This year’s festivities will not only celebrate America’s Independence, but also honor the 200th anniversary of the historic Erie Canal.
“…And leading up to the fireworks, we are going to have a ton of family events, activities, thanks to our Parks Department and CHANT (Community Health Alliance of North Tonawanda), that will be taking place on Webster Street, starting at six o’clock, leading up to the fireworks at dusk.” said NT Mayor Austin Tylec. He said this will include., “free hot dogs grill by our NT fire department, our police department’s Meet and Greet tent, obstacle courses, rock climbing wall, balloon artists, face painting, a kids game zone, live music and much more. “…
